In Many Lives, Many Masters, a skeptical Dr. Brian Weiss found his life changed profoundly after curing a patient using past-life therapy. Now he takes his research into transcendental messages one breathtaking step further.

He portrays two strangers, Elizabeth and Pedro, who are unaware that they have been lovers throughout the long centuries -- until fate brings them together again.

He shows how each and every one of us has a soulmate whom we have loved in past incarnations and who waits to reunite with us now.

And he opens up entirely new worlds for all of us everywhere, based on a single, powerful truth...

The concept of “soul mate” which he explains is not just about lovers it is something more.. beyond that, something eternal. The experience that he shares with so many patients proves every single time that life is something beyond just leading it. One of the things which caught my attention was the way he explained.. how a soul enters into a body and the reason it exists which was just mesmerizing. Likewise, there are so many things revealed in this book that just can’t be explained but can only be experienced through reading.

Before reading this book I never believed in reincarnation or rebirth but now I do.. thanks to author Brian L. Weiss, who unfolds each and every part of this concept by giving a meaningful explanation to it with his experience which one cannot simply deny. The concept of the soul has been explained in so many books, I don’t deny it, but for me, this will be one of those books which made me believe in this concept and will definitely reread it whenever I forget the meaning of life.

At one time a few months after I moved overseas (new place, new language, new people), I experience a bout of serious isolation and aloneness.. I didn't get out of bed except to go to work and cried, a lot. Then about two weeks of that I was in bed and and felt my room glow and get warm. All I felt was this loving, warm presence and then I had this knowing (don't have words to explain) that I was never, ever alone. I lightheartedly refer to it as my experience the presence of God. I'm not exactly a religious person, but I was never the same after that. I haven't ever felt alone again. That being said (TMI, I know lol), here are some things from the book that resonated for me as true when he had Elizabeth under hypnosis and she began talking in the funny voice that was not hers:

"Remember.. Remember that you are always loved. You are always protected, and you are never alone.." (pg. 62 or my edition)

"The path is inward, and sooner or later the inward path must be trod alone. Although in reality, you are never alone." (pg. 66)

"Just unravel... Stop thinking. Instead, use your intuitive wisdom to experience love again. Meditate. See that everything is interconnected and interdependent. See the unity, not the differences. See your true self. See God." (pg. 67)

"All is love... all is love. With love comes understanding. With understanding comes patience. And then time stops and everything is now." (pg. 64)

"Love is the ultimate answer. Love is not an abstraction but an actual energy, or spectrum of energies, which you can 'create' and maintain in your being. Just be loving. You are beginning to touch God within yourself. Feel loving. Express your love." (pg 65)

and my favorite:

"With love and understanding comes the perspective of infinite patience. What is your hurry? There is no time anyway; it only feels that way to you." (pg. 66)

Famous for his work in regression therapy, the ivy league educated highly respected doctor started out skeptical and doubtful of the veracity of past life regression, but as his work with patients began to produce unquestionable results his beliefs have changed and his books are devoted to explaining this process and the amazing clinical results achieved as his patients are able to overcome present day challenges simply by resolving emotions and issues "left over" from previous lifetimes. This book deals with the story of two individual patients who had never met before who are having difficulty with relationships, and as each of their sessions unfold separately it becomes apparent to the therapist that they have known and loved each other in previous lifetimes, and that they are "soulmates". He discusses the concept of "soulmate" in a way that I can agree with -- that we have been running around for eternity with a group of certain souls (parents, siblings, lovers, friends) that we have known from previous lifetimes who tend to reincarnate together in groups, changing roles and deepening life lessons together. ...more

Actual rating 3.5 stars. This was an interesting book, and the only reason it's not rated higher is that I found the writing style occasionally cramped the story itself.

The parallels between this and what Theresa Caputo the Long Island Medium has to say about souls in her book are really interesting; I just read her book recently and had never really read much about the subject before. I was surprised, although I'm not sure why, by the immediate similarities I noticed.

This book, as the title suggests, goes deeper into the relationships between souls, and the different kinds of love souls can share over the centuries. I particularly liked this passage:

"You will not always marry your most strongly bonded soulmate. There may be more than one for you, because soul families travel together. You might choose to marry a less bonded soul companion, one who has something specific to teach you or learn from you. Your recognition of a soulmate may occur later in life, after both of you are already committed to your present-life families. Our your strongest soulmate connection may be to your parent, or to your child, or to your sibling. Or your strongest connection may be to a soulmate who has not incarnated during your lifetime and who is watching over you from the other side, like a guardian angel."

Now that makes way more sense to me than the idea of a single soulmate for each person.

I wish I hadn’t read this one. It’s just not as powerful as Many Lives, Many Masters. The first book read like a journey from disbelief to belief. I liked learning to believe with Weiss. The rest is just filler. They share one past life for sure; the others mad were suspect. The random stories of other people’s past lives were neither convincing nor interesting because I didn’t know them. They were random people that Weiss helped. This book reads really self-serving like it’s pandering to Weiss’s ego. Maybe I’m just sensitive to men and their egos at the moment, but I don’t need to read any of his other books. I’m going to focus on the memory of the first and the beauty of a story of revelations. ...more

Read this book for the second time and loved it. 'Only Love is Real' is not only a story about soulmates reunited, a story about reincarnation, but also about the spiritual lessons we are all here to learn. And well, that's the reason why we keep coming back on Earth. Thankfully, in our journey, we are not alone and have wonderful companions, some close, some not. Those who are really close to us, our soulmates (could be one or more) are the ones who make the journey bearable and exciting. Elizabeth and Pedro are also soulmates who have travelled through time to be with each other. This book details their fascinating love story as it unfolds in Dr. Weiss's office. And the way it's been written, you are going to fall in love with these two people. I am planning to read all the other titles by Dr. Weiss. I would strongly recommend this one to my GR family. ...more

''My patients tell me that the soul does not enter the body right away. Around the time of conception, a reservation is made by the soul. No other soul can have that body. The soul who has reserved that particular baby's body can then come into and out of the body, as it wishes. It is not confined. This is similar to people in comas. During pregnancy, the soul is gradually more and more attached to the baby's body,” I went on, “but the attachment is not complete until around the time of birth, either shortly before, during, or just afterwards.” I emphasized this concept by joining my hands at the base of my palms, forming a ninety-degree angle. Then I slowly closed my hands so that the rest of my palms and my fingers met, like the universal hand symbol for prayer, denoting the gradual attachment of the soul to the body. “You can never harm or kill a soul,” I added. “The soul is immortal and indestructible. It will find a way to return, if that is the plan.” “What do you mean?” Pedro asked. “I have had cases where the same soul, after a miscarriage or abortion, comes back to the same parents in their next baby.''

''An abortion, or a miscarriage, usually involves an agreement between the mother and the soul that would enter the baby. Either the baby's body would not be healthy enough to carry out its planned tasks in the coming life,” I continued, “or the timing was not right for its purposes, or the outside situation had changed, such as the desertion of the father when the baby's or mother's plans required a father figure.''

I have learned over the years that people in their first regression often gravitate to the most traumatic event in a lifetime. This occurs because the emotion of the trauma is so strongly impressed upon their psyches and carried by the soul into future incarnations.

How will we recognize our loved ones? Will we know them, and will they know us, if and when we meet again, whether in heaven or on earth, once more in physical bodies? Many of my patients just seem to know. When experiencing their past lives, they look into a soul companion's eyes, and they know. Whether in heaven or on earth, they sense vibration or energy, and it is the same as their loved one's. They glimpse the deeper personality, and there is an inner knowing - a knowing from the heart. A connection is made. Because it is the heart's eyes that often see first, words alone cannot convey the confidence of soul recognition. There is no wavering or confusion. Even though the body may be very different from the current one, the soul is the same. The soul is recognized, and the recognition is complete and beyond any doubt. Sometimes soul recognition may originate in the mind and may occur even before the heart sees. This type of recognition happens most often with babies or young children. They exhibit some physical mannerism or unique behavior, they utter a word or phrase, and a beloved parent or grandparent is instantly recognized. They may have an identical scar or birthmark as your loved one or perhaps just hold your hand or look at you in that same special way. You know. In heaven, there are no birthmarks. In heaven, where physical bodies are not needed, soul recognition may occur through an inner knowing, a sense of a loved one's special energy, light, or vibration. You feel them, in your heart. There is a deep and intuitive wisdom there, and you recognize them completely and immediately. They may even help you by assuming the body they had during their last incarnation with you. You see them as they appeared to you on earth, often younger and healthier. They will know your name. They will hold your hand. They will bring peace and healing to your heart.

Relationships are not measured in time but in lessons learned.

You will not always marry your most strongly bonded soulmate. There may be more than one for you, because soul families travel together. You might choose to marry a less bonded soul companion, one who has something specific to teach you or to learn from you. Your recognition of a soulmate may occur later in life, after both of you are already committed to your present-life families. Or your strongest soulmate connection may be to your parent, or to your child, or to your sibling. Or your strongest connection may be to a soulmate who has not incarnated during your lifetime and who is watching over you from the other side, like a guardian angel. Sometimes your soulmate is willing and available. He or she might recognize the passion and the chemistry between you, the intimate and subtle bonds that imply connections over many lifetimes. Yet he or she may be toxic for you. It is a matter of soul development. If one soul is less developed and more ignorant than the other, traits of violence, greed, jealousy, hatred, and fear might be brought into the relationship. These tendencies are toxic to the more evolved soul, even if from a soulmate. Frequently rescue fantasies arise with the thought, I can change him; I can help her grow. If he does not allow your help, if in her free will she chooses not to learn, not to grow, the relationship is doomed. Perhaps there will be another chance in another lifetime, unless he awakens later in this one. Late awakenings do happen. Sometimes soulmates decide not to get married while incarnated. They arrange to meet, to stay together until the agreed upon task is completed, and then to move on. Their agendas, their lesson plans for the entirety of this life, are different, and they do not want to or need to spend all of this lifetime together. This is not a tragedy, only a matter of learning. You have eternal life together, but sometimes you may need to take separate classes. A soulmate who is available but unawakened is a tragic figure and can cause you great anguish. Unawakened means that he or she does not see life clearly, is not aware of the many levels of existence. Unawakened means not knowing about souls. Usually it is the everyday mind that prevents awakening. We hear the excuses of the mind all the time: I'm too young; I need more experience; I'm not ready to settle down yet; you are of a different religion (or race, region, social status, intellectual level, cultural background, and so on). These are all excuses, for souls possess none of these attributes. The person may recognize the chemistry. The attraction is definitely there, but the source of the chemistry is not understood. It is delusional to believe that this passion, this soul recognition and attraction, will be easily found again with another person. You do not run into such a soulmate every day, perhaps only one or two more in a lifetime. Divine grace may reward a good heart, a loving soul. Never worry about meeting soulmates. Such meetings are a matter of destiny. They will occur. After the meeting, the free will of both partners reigns. What decisions are made or not made are a matter of free will, of choice. The less awakened will make decisions based on the mind and all of its fears and prejudices. Unfortunately, this often leads to heartache. The more awakened the couple is, the more the likelihood of a decision based on love. When both partners are awakened, ecstasy is within their grasp.''

Dr. Weiss's book takes you through the 'true story' of his hypno-therapy sessions with a 35-year-old women named Catherine. Catherine was having a lot of difficulties in her life, was unhappy and had many fears and phobias.

During her many months of hypno-therapy with Dr. Weiss, Catherine began remembering MANY past lives, 86 to be exact although only about 35 were covered in this book. I was so taken in that I read this book in one sitting, I could not put the book down, it pulled me in right from the beginning.

It's not filled with a lot of medical jargon that us layman can't understand, but simple every day English and in very straight forward terms. To learn of the past lives of this woman was amazing and so much detail was given that you almost can't NOT believe, however that is for each of us to decide.

What I've learned from this book has given me a great deal of food for thought and has dramatically changed my outlook on life and death. This is a book I'll never forget reading and one that I will encourage all who I come in contact with to read. Once you're done you can make your decision as to whether you believe it or not.

Close to a 4.

Coming back to this book, I’ve found it on Kylie Jenner’s instastory and I was curious to see what she reads and enjoys. I am still surprised.

The book talks about a serie of hypno-experiences that patients have whilst being in the search of ending grief. You wouldn’t expect a therapist to believe in reincarnation but here we are, although his cases are compelling, you’re still left with the idea that people believe what they want to believe. Still keeping an open mind. I would had enjoyed more this book as a Netflix serie but I’m not complaining, it’s semi healing. I’ve enjoyed reading it, it’s a short read but it’s positive and helpful to a degree, but I don’t know if I recommend it… it did add to my life I guess, ok, if you are in the search for healing yourself – give this book a read too.

This is an amazing journey of soulmates that traverses various births...hundreds, thousands of them! Somewhere it coincides with Hindu Philosophy of re-incarnations and meeting your soulmates again and again too. More importantly, Dr Weiss talks about past life therapy to heal wounded souls and somewhere, one really wishes to believe him.

I give this book ten on ten who wants some embalming effect to live life happily! Who wishes to forgive the sins of dear and near ones but is not finding enough reasons to do so. Do read it. High on recommendation list.

As always Brian Weiss' books aren't a mere report of his experiences with his patients but a soothing journey into our ancient fears and the power of our minds. In this book he tells us that each of us is connected to a special soul that we meet again and again in our different lives. Kindred spirits do exist and return in the shape of a love mate or a relative or a best friend, to be forever connected to you through time and space. I read this book after Many Lives, Many Masters. I was interested to learn more about how people travel through lifetimes together and the meaning of soulmates. Like Many Lives, Many Masters I enjoyed this book. It has made me think about my life and relationships differently. It is comforting to think that you might see your love ones again in future lifetimes and it also helps to explain why you sometimes feel a very strong pull or instant connection with certain people.

There are times when you want to be reminded of certain things, some intricate lessons in simple language and an uncomplicated tone. Exactly when I was going through one of those times, did I get to read this book. An account of two of his patients and their regression therapy, Dr. Brian Weiss has compiled his experience. The book wins at motivating us to believe in a life after death and the cycle of reincarnation. Reading this book is an amazing ordeal in itself!

Interesting but not sure how much I could believe and take from it

前世今生 爱 未央

I was always fascinated by the concept of soulmates and reincarnation. This book thought me a lot about it. And destiny does play a very important part in it 🤍

前世今生 爱 未央

I remember telling my friends and family about the dreams I had. That I could see someone somewhere which is not scary but an eternal truth. I saw many glimpses, people I have never met. Places I have never been to; yet so familiar and I was laughed at. People thought I’m good at cooking stories. And I got accustomed to listening to this so much that I started believing that these are mere stories, my imaginations, may be my Hallucinations. These images kept on getting stronger and took shape of I remember telling my friends and family about the dreams I had. These images kept on getting stronger and took shape of dreams, frequent dreams making no sense to me.

Slowly and gradually I could see things quite clear in these dreams but never saw the faces of the people. A desire to go and search these places started seeping in me. I had no direction. I didn’t even know whom to talk to about this. I read the web and thought would find an answer to what I feel.

One fine day a friend of mine suggested me to read “Only love is real” by Dr Brian Weiss. Each line of the book made perfect sense and I could feel every word written in the book.

I would say this book is “The Bible” for those who wish to jump into the sea of regression and past lives. Those who believe that they see something around them but no one understands. For those who wish to meet the loved, for those who have lost someone and are deeply grieved over the death and are unable to live a normal perfect life. The real therapies discussed in the book would definitely make one believe that if we deeply love someone; the soul is going to return sooner or later. We need to keep our eyes open and hearts love filled.

This books also gives one strong message about following our intuitive senses and not ignoring them at all. Be it a situation or a person the intuition would always travel with you from past lifetimes and would give you hints of doing the best. Follow them.Have faith in the soul and listen to the masters is what this book tells us. Some souls are bound and they have not yet developed the art of listening to the masters. They keep their souls in the shackles of jealousy, hatred, revenge. Come out of all this and see from time boundless, one or the other soul will come and unite with you.

I remember believing in my instincts so much so that I never had justifications for my actions. People thought I was abrupt and didn`t take wise decisions, but after reading this book my belief is more deeply engrossed that we must and surely listen to the masters. All of us have that power within us, that sound which will echo and tell us what right and what's not.

The last chapter of the book and the last line of the book tells us that

'The God is within us ' and that is something to ponder upon.Only love travels from lifetimes, love from one life after the other, from one soul to the other. Only those who loved have the ability to embrace the same souls from the past lifetimes. They identify them. The eyes and the contact will give a magical current that only the most powerful souls would recognise.
So go ahead and read this book to find your SOULMATE.

My heart beats wildly, goosebumps, i had some stolen breath, I feel pains (until now honestly), few times tears welled up, trembling out of my will, that I decided to take a rest for a while in the middle. #grin #sigh.

I knew I will have an emotional reading intuitively once I started. How? I don't have idea. That makes me curious either 😁

For the 3rd time my tears welled up out of my will, I said "It's done". This is the last one, i told myself.
And yes, it was.

I have so much pain inside just because of a book (probably) awakening my self conciousness.
It expelled all my feelings, all things I've been hiding all the time since little, all things that only I knew myself.

I wish I've awakened much earlier...
But destiny has its own way to occur.
Weiss is right, it will give you a great anguish n such heartache. #sigh

But it will enlighten you either, if you just could pick up the lessons n keep positives, release and believe that everything's gonna be okay in the end. If not, then it's not the end ☺ #immortality.

And you know that life must go on. Lessons must learned.
Embrace this life as it is indeed a gift for you yourself.
No matter how hard the anguish that lies ahead, keep loving and believing.
Cherish life, because God is good n mercy all the time.
Let universe works, you just have to never stop dreaming. NEVER 💙

Dr. Weiss is clearly a gifted physician with a big heart and kind, considerate manner. That comes through in his writing. It feels conversational, as if you’re just having a cup of coffee with the guy. As someone who has multiple autoimmune diseases and various other medical issues, I see A LOT of medical professionals. I’m always impressed when the care someone feels toward their patients/clients shows through. I picked up on that awfully quickly while reading this.

I won’t get into specifics because it’s a little personal to me, but there were a couple sections early in the book where Dr. Weiss was explaining something regarding a death to one of his clients and it literally changed the way I had been carrying some of my own grief over a similar circumstance. I actually was so changed and moved by it that I felt compelled to send him a message about it via Twitter.

My point being that this is an important book. At least, it was for me. Something that I needed to read at the juncture in my life, so I’m glad that I happened to come across it. I recognize that not everyone will be as equally interested in the topic or invested in what this book touches on as I am, so others may not think it deserves such a high rating. But it truly impacted me and I will more than likely read it again at some point as well as suggest it to others.

A brilliant book that has cemented my own beliefs about souls and reincarnation, Only Love is Real isn't just the story of soulmates and love being the only thing that truly matters in the end. The book is a clarion call for everyone living in fear. It teaches you that the soul is immortal and cannot be harmed so you shouldn't be afraid to live, to make decisions that ring true to your heart and intuition and pursue risks because ultimately the soul can never truly be hurt.

A story of soulmates reunited. Pedro and Elizabeth were both in therapy with Dr. Weiss because of deaths in their families. To help them through their grief, Dr. Weiss regressed them to previous lives and was stunned as they each described the same past lifetime. He chose not to interfere and let fate take its own time and finally sees them reunited through will of their destiny.

This isn't a book for everyone, but if you're interested in past life regression and the idea of soulmates, it might be the book for you. Brian writes in plain speak that is accessible to any reader, and the book also features quotes on the subject at the start of each chapter. I wouldn't call his books proof of anything, but they present an idea that is incredibly hopeful. This book has helped me through a very difficult time in my life. It is beyond rating system for me. It has held me emotionally. This book came to me at the right time in my life when I needed it the most.

As a traditional psychotherapist, Dr. Brian Weiss was astonished and skeptical when one of his patients began recalling past-life traumas that seemed to hold the key to her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks. His skepticism was eroded, however, when she began to channel messages from "the space between lives," which contained remarkable revelations about Dr. Weiss's family and his dead son.
